Expat Life: Hilarious Moments ;-)

Today in Amersfoort...sunny day....lunch with Aledys....:-)

Hours later in FB... ;-))

Aledys telling her friends about our usual "Taalsalade" ;-))

"jaja y a los demás que nos escuchan, les cuesta entendernos jaja Es que Sandra es portuguesa y hace menos tiempo que yo que está en Holanda. Empezamos el día hablando holandés, después seguimos en inglés, pero siempre metiendo holandés en el medio, y al final cuando Sandra se posesiona, empieza a hablar en Portugués y a mí no me queda otra que contestarle en español... jaja."

From Amersfoort

Delicious...;-))

Translation:
Those that listen to us speaking [a mix of English, Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish] can't figure out what language we are speaking! [...]We started off speaking Dutch, then went on in English, but when Sandra gets passionate about a topic she immediately switches to Portuguese, to which I have no choice but to reply in Spanish...."

I know your confusion. I spoke but English for numerous years and even today a mix comes out, people saying you speak French with an English accent, etc. etc.
It is fun. I tried to understand your post, but must admit I am happy with your friends translation. I did have an idea though what it was all about.
Happy weekend, back in the rain tomorrow ;-((

I would love to hear you two chitchat. I absolutely love Spanish, took a few lessons back home but have to stop when I came here.

Its happening to me so often now that I am also mixing languages. And it frustrates me big time. But a friend told me that after youve mastered another language, then all the other languages you learned before will be impeccable again. I cant wait for that.

Good morning my precious Sandra! Oh it seems due to my fatigue from work that I missed some things here!!!!!! I AM SO TIRED and this school year is really demanding, and I am not even doing everything I should!!!!! Oh my goodness, I mailed off the drawings. I forgot to include a card saying a few words of friendship...so when you open the package, you will see the drawings...AND...I pray you receive them. I FORGOT TO SEND IT REGISTERED! FORGIVE ME!!!! Please let me know immediately when you get them...and please enjoy them, do as you wish. Many happy regards to you dear one! Anita

Sometimes I cannot remember a word...or I write in a mix way...

In Nederlands, is "foto's". In English, is "photos"...

"photo's" is a mix ;-))

small things, I know...

Now I laugh and just accept the situation ;-) I need to give time to my brain to adjust., that's all..;-)

Have a nice weekend! ;-)

Now I thought I was the only one who did that....English/German with a few words thrown in from my grandfather..who is not Jewish but I've since identified as Yiddish words and not Swabian (German) like I thought. If only I could master the French! We just moved to Belgium, and the going has been s-l-o-w for me!

I'm enjoying reading your blog about your neck of the woods!
