Texel

I needed a quiet Queen's Day this year.
So, Texel, a Dutch island located in the North of Holland, in the WaddenSea, seemed the perfect choice to relax and enjoy the nature ;-)

The boat trip (about 20 minutes), between Den Helder and Texel, was lovely ;-)

A great show of seagulls eating bread in the air...:-)
Some passengers were throwing bread at them and they were catching it in flight...

The prices are very good (about 9 euros) and the products so smooth...I bought several items...:-)

After the shopping, another road trip through the fields...

Texel is so beautiful in this time of year...

The fields are like paintings with bright and colourful flowers...

More beautiful, indeed, when the flowers lead us to the sea...

De Koog...a large and beautiful beach of white sand...a nice place to walk, to listen to the sea, to lay down and relax...

Meanwhile, it was time for dinner...

The choice was the oldest pub of the island: the Restaurant of the Seven Provinces...

I felt at home, in Portugal, the smell was so good as I just opened the door...

and the fish, oh yes, very good...

I liked also Texel's beer...

The great surprise of this day? ...the several fires in the island...the Meierblis or the May Fires...
According to folk experts, the meierblis is a remainder of the German traditional fire used to dissipate the spirits of the winter.
